My professional experience encompasses a wide range of international and national projects aimed at building resilience systems and addressing climate-induced disasters such as extreme weather events.
I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Public Affairs at the J. Green School of International and Public Affairs at the Florida International University. I completed my master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on Environmental Health at the University of Maryland.
My research interests lie at the intersection of public opinion and the politics of risk reduction, social equity, and systems thinking.
At the heart of my research lies the question of how can we create more equitable approaches to reducing disaster risk? Combining insights from environmental justice, group dynamics, and systems thinking, my work focuses on disaster risk reduction to:
(1) identify the gaps and adverse outcomes of current procedures, distribution, and recognition,
(2) understand the consequences of social inequities and politics on public opinion, and
(3) uncover new approaches for inclusive collaboration to protect and save lives.
