My professional experience encompasses a wide range of international and national projects to build resilience systems and decrease disaster risks.
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Public Affairs at the J. Green School of International and Public Affairs at Florida International University. I completed my master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on Environmental Health at the University of Maryland.
My research interests lie at the intersection of socio-economic factors and the politics of risk reduction, culture, and systems thinking.
At the heart of my research lies the question of how we can create more collaborative approaches to reducing disaster risk. Combining insights from cultural theory, group dynamics, and systems thinking, my work focuses on disaster risk reduction to:
(1) identify the gaps and adverse outcomes of current procedures, distribution, and recognition,
(2) understand the consequences of politics on public opinion, and
(3) uncover new approaches for inclusive collaboration to protect and save lives.
